The Mental Health Liaison Nurse role at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust involves providing specialized assessment and care for individuals experiencing mental health crises in the Emergency Department and acute general hospital wards in Liverpool. The position requires the formulation of treatment and risk management plans based on comprehensive assessments, as well as triage and diversion services. The nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, playing an integral role in care coordination, undertaking risk assessments, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with the recovery model.

Working shifts to provide 24/7 services, the nurse will also mentor students, supervise unqualified staff, and liaise with family members to develop personalized care plans. Additional responsibilities include safeguarding practices, engaging in systematic evaluations of care, and ensuring effective communication within the team to enhance service users' wellbeing.
