The Specialist Nurse - Inpatient Diabetes at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust will be stationed at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, focusing on the management and care of patients with diabetes during hospitalisation. The role involves collaborating with the Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nursing Team and the broader multi-disciplinary team to enhance diabetes awareness, educate patients and their families, and improve self-care practices. The nurse will advocate for patients, develop personalized treatment plans, provide advice on insulin and medication adjustments in line with current standards, and support health promotion initiatives.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the post holder will contribute to creating a high-quality service for individuals with diabetes and assist in training healthcare professionals on effective diabetes management. The role requires independent work, prioritisation of tasks according to clinical needs, and the ability to adapt to new practices as they arise, ensuring patient safety and adherence to NICE guidelines throughout.
