The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Matron for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to lead their IPC Team, following the retirement of the current post holder. This role, based primarily at the Countess of Chester Hospital but also involving travel to Ellesmere Port Hospital and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, requires an experienced First Level Registered Nurse with extensive expertise in infection prevention and control. Preferred qualifications include a specialized IPC qualification and a teaching credential such as ENB 998.

The Matron will be responsible for aligning the IPC services with the strategic objectives of the trust and national regulations, developing effective surveillance systems for reporting healthcare-associated infections, managing local and trust-wide performance metrics, and advising on best practices. The role includes the interpretation of national policies, local policy development, leading operational processes to reduce infection rates through risk assessment, audits, education, and outbreak management in collaboration with UKHSA. Candidates must be prepared to cover the costs associated with their DBS checks and are encouraged to apply promptly due to potential high application volumes.
