MULTI-DISCIPLINARY NHS NMC ROLE MODEL
The Sister/Charge Nurse for the Pain Management Service at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust will collaborate with the Pain Management Team to enhance service delivery across the Trust. Responsibilities include providing specialized advice on pain management to clinical teams, GPs, and other healthcare providers, participating in educational initiatives for staff, and collecting audit data to inform practice improvements. The role involves managing patient care plans, running follow-up clinics, and ensuring adherence to Trust policies regarding pain management. Acting as a role model, the nurse will also support the continuous development and evaluation of pain management processes while promoting effective communication within the multidisciplinary team.

In addition to clinical duties, the position encompasses managerial and educational responsibilities, such as resource management, staff training development, and participation in research initiatives. The nurse will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care according to NMC regulations, contributing to policy and practice changes based on audits, and continuously updating their knowledge and skills in pain management. The role may also involve assisting in the delivery of the in-house education and training programs for various staff disciplines, while promoting a cohesive and effective work environment across the Pain Management Service and related teams.
