The Labour Ward Co-ordinator at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in Islington will lead a team of midwives, students, and support workers in a designated clinical area, providing clinical leadership and overseeing professional development. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, safe maternal care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, while meeting national maternity targets and the organisation’s objectives. The Co-ordinator will promote evidence-based, holistic care, work autonomously within professional guidelines, and maintain a positive learning environment for staff.

This position requires effective leadership and the ability to adapt to changing practices within the maternity unit, including potential night shifts and on-call duties. The Labour Ward Co-ordinator is responsible for fostering a multidisciplinary team approach, ensuring high clinical standards, and enhancing the service experience for women, birthing individuals, and their families while positively representing Whittington Health.

More about the NHS
The National Health Service (NHS) is a cornerstone of healthcare in the United Kingdom, established in 1948 with the simple yet profound principle of providing healthcare to all citizens, free at the point of use. This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.Learn more...
