The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant ENT Surgeon with an interest in Rhinology for a new position at the Elective Hub located at County Hospital in Stafford. This role will focus on both surgical and clinical responsibilities to support the ENT team in managing increased clinical activity and addressing backlog issues stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The appointed surgeon will work at both Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, accommodating routine new referrals, follow-up appointments, and general ENT surgeries. Specific skills in ENT Rhinology surgery are essential. Candidates with medical education qualifications and experience are preferred.
The position entails participation in a shared on-call rota (1:9 weekdays, 1:14 weekends) covering inpatients and emergency referrals. The role includes outpatient sessions and comprehensive patient care responsibilities. There is a commitment to expand surgical operations at County Hospital in 2025.
This is a new post created by the creation of an Elective Hub at the County Hospital site in Stafford so gives an exciting opportunity for development of the ENT/Rhinology services.

The appointed applicant will have an integral role in assisting in waiting list backlogs, with routine new referrals, follow up appointments and general ENT operating lists. Successful applicants would be expected to take part in the on-call rota for the department based on a 1:9 weekday frequency and 1:14 weekend frequency as this is shared with Mid Cheshire NHS Trust.
This is a new substantive Consultant post. The successful applicant will do joint sessions at both the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford. The surgeon will participate in the outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients. The successful applicant will take part in an on-call rota 1:9 on a weekday frequency and 1:14 at the weekend frequency as this is shared with Mid Cheshire NHS Trust covering inpatients and emergency referrals from GPs and Emergency Department. It is expected the individual will be available to return to the hospital if needed
The job plan includes sessions at County hospital. Currently the operating at County is on day case only but is looking to expand operating to 7.30 pm in February 2025.
