The "Bank - Staff Nurse" position at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust involves a comprehensive role in nursing care, including the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, take on delegated tasks from the ward manager, and will be expected to lead the ward or department following the completion of their foundation training.

Responsibilities include ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, maintaining nursing records in line with NMC and Trust guidelines, and supporting patients and their carers. The role emphasises participation in improving the quality of care, adherence to professional conduct, and the involvement of patients and their families in the care process. Additionally, the nurse must develop their clinical skills to manage acutely ill patients and communicate effectively within the team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

On 1st October 2, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created, through the merger of Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust. The newly formed Trust is responsible for managing services at Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward manager/charge nurse.Following successful completion of foundation gateway will be required to take charge of ward/department for a span of duty.The post holder will always work within the NMC's Code of Professional Conduct.

- Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patientsand carers and maintain agreed standards of nursing care.- Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care. Informs the nurse in charge whenchanges in circumstances may affect patient care.- Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust Guidelines.- Maintain and improve quality of patient care through contribution to the development of- Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit- Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients.- Providing information and support to patients/carers, and ensuring all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patients condition.- Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.- To develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes.- To undertake expanded practice, under supervision, in order to optimise patient care and in accordance with ward/department and Trust policies.- Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivering of care.- Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department multidisciplinary team.
