Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Registered Biomedical Scientist to join its Microbiology Department at Leeds General Infirmary, with a forthcoming relocation to St James University Hospital in 2025. This full-time role involves conducting examinations of pathological samples, particularly in the serology and molecular sections, to aid in diagnosing infections. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training, participate in a 24/7 laboratory service, and contribute to a collaborative microbiology service designed to enhance healthcare delivery across the West Yorkshire region.

Applicants are expected to be HCPC registered or in the process of registration and may have prior experience in a microbiology setting. Key responsibilities include performing technical lab procedures, ensuring adherence to quality standards, supervising staff, and maintaining effective communication within the team. The position offers opportunities for career development, with support from the hospital's charity partner, Leeds Cares, for further qualifications and training.
