The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care, including conducting consultations, managing repeat prescriptions, and developing patient care plans. The position requires strong patient care commitment and the ability to make autonomous decisions regarding medical issues. Candidates should be fully qualified GPs with GMC registration and be within two years of their training completion certificate. Kingston GP Chambers are delighted to be supporting the Surbiton and Chessington Primary Care Network (PCN) with their recruitment for a fixed term GP. This will be an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified GP to join the team on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2025. Additional funding has recently been made available to PCNs as part of the Additional Role Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and may mean the role will be extended if the funding continues from 1st April 2025.
The Surbiton & Chessington PCNs Ltd includes Surbiton Health Centre PCN and Chessington & Surbiton PCN, which work together through a limited company with a joint Board: Surbiton & Chessington PCNs Limited. The PCNs have 3- and 5-member GP practices respectively, and together account for a total registered population of close to 66,000. The networks have diverse communities including commuter areas, young families, deprived pockets, and frail elderly / care homes. The PCNs vision is to help to maintain and improve the health and healthcare for our local populations, and the sustainability of our member GP practices, in line with wider NHS strategies and plans.
There will be 4 - 6 sessions available for the successful candidates. The PCN are very flexible to have 2 part-time GPs working across sites within the borough of Surbiton. Working hours/days are also flexible though some Saturday work will be required. A competitive salary is on offer along with excellent benefits and training and development.
Purpose of the role:
To be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, ensuring their well-being through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment plans, and ongoing patient education. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and a thorough understanding of various medical practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the PCNs.
- Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Providing health education.
- Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
- Supporting the enhanced access services.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

- Must not be beyond the second anniversary of the certificate of completion of training, issued by the GMC at the start of employment.
- Must not have been previously employed in a substantive GP post in a GP Practice
