The Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry role at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust involves joining a well-established Universal Crisis Service that delivers crisis assessment and home treatment for youth facing acute mental health issues. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, comprising various healthcare professionals, and will play a key role in conducting psychiatric assessments, formulating diagnoses, and overseeing the treatment progress of young patients between the ages of 0 to 18 years. Responsibilities also include collaboration with external stakeholders like GPs and schools, providing leadership and consultation within the team, and supporting the training and supervision of junior medical staff and trainees.

The role encompasses administrative duties, adherence to clinical guidelines, and maintaining professional registration, ensuring compliance with mental health legislation. The Consultant Psychiatrist will contribute to the ongoing development and innovation of services, liaising with community teams to streamline follow-up care. Additionally, the role includes evaluating service efficiency and participating in job plan reviews to align with changing service demands.
