The Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated individual to join their Mental Health Act (MHA) Compliance Team as a Mental Health Act Compliance Officer in Ipswich on a part-time, fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role involves providing administrative support related to the application of the Mental Health Act for patients detained in hospital, including maintaining knowledge of the 1983 Mental Health Act, liaising with social services, and managing documentation for hearings and treatment regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong organisational and interpersonal skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have a capacity to work both collaboratively and independently. No prior experience with the Mental Health Act is required, as full training will be provided.

Main responsibilities include providing information to patients and their families regarding their rights, assisting with the management of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and supporting the MHA team during CQC visits. The position is primarily based at Woodlands, Ipswich Hospital, with occasional travel to West Suffolk Hospital. The Trust emphasises the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality and data protection throughout the administrative processes.
