Exciting opportunity to direct and manage the Antenatal and Newborn Screening and Fetal medicine for UH Sussex.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the antenatal and newborn screening team across all four sites of UH Sussex and must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, professionalism, managerial skills, change management skills and extensive knowledge in the area of antenatal and newborn screening/fetal medicine.
The post holder must be able to provide a visible and clinical presence within their area of responsibility and demonstrate advanced midwifery clinical expertise, with extensive knowledge of national policy, standards and frameworks.

To be responsible for the provision of high quality, woman centred antenatal and newborn screening service and fetal medicine for the Trust, in line with the national Screening Committee standards.
To act as a specialist in the field of antenatal and newborn screening, assisting and advising other health professionals in the management of the screening pathways.
To lead on the management of all Trust antenatal and newborn screening pathways, ensuring that they meet national standards and that new or updated standards are implemented as they are released by the NSCT.
To work with the multidisciplinary team to continually monitor the screening pathways, identify areas for improvement, and support staff in this process.
The lead midwife for Antenatal and Newborn Screening and Fetal Medicine, within the framework of Clinical Governance will lead the team in delivering the antenatal and newborn screening programme and oversee the fetal medicine programme, ensuring the service is conducive to delivering high quality care and acknowledging the diverse needs of women and their babies.
The post holder will lead on quality issues and be responsible for the amalgamation of the antenatal and newborn screening and fetal medicine programmes across the four sites of University Hospitals Sussex.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to the screening coordinators, midwives and maternity support workers within maternity services.
They will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to the clinical teams so that maternal and fetal screening pathways and systems are in line with the National Screening Committee (NSC) standards.
They will action, implement and monitor the quality assurance of all the Screening Programmes ensuring that appropriate failsafe systems are in place, confirming, that all population screening is undertaken to the highest standard. They will provide regular formal updates on the performance of the Screening Programmes to the screening commissioners at NHS England.
