The role of Midwifery Matron for Antenatal & Newborn Screening and Fetal Medicine at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust involves overseeing the management and delivery of antenatal and newborn screening services across four sites. The post holder is expected to demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills, while also providing advanced midwifery clinical expertise in alignment with national standards. This position entails acting as a specialist advisor to health professionals and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to continuously improve screening pathways and ensure high-quality, woman-centered care.

Additionally, the Matron will lead quality initiatives, amalgamate screening programs, and implement necessary changes based on updates from the National Screening Committee. They will offer professional guidance to midwives and maternity support staff, ensure adherence to national standards for maternal and fetal screening, and maintain effective monitoring systems. Regular updates on screening performance will be provided to NHS England, reinforcing the commitment to delivering the highest standard of care for expectant mothers and newborns.
