The Paediatric Bladder and Bowel Team are recruiting a Clinical Lead / Senior Nurse working part-time 30 hours a week. The team are a flexible team based at Sherwood Rise Health Centre, they undertake clinics both in the community and work remotely from home.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and conscientious Lead Nurse in paediatric continence to join the team within the Bladder and Bowel Service. We are a dynamic, developing service providing education, advice, support, and clinical care.

You will play a key role in the delivery and development of this service whilst delivering safe, high quality evidence based care to children, young people and their families.

The successful applicant will line manage a team of staff including specialist paediatric nurses and a support worker.

The hours of work will be 8.30am - 5.00pm excluding weekends and bank holidays.

Please note a car driver with own vehicle is essential for the job role.

• Work with and support the Clinical Service Manager to provide a high quality paediatric bladder and bowel service whilst meeting service targets.
• Line manage staff within the team and provide supervision, support and knowledge.
• Provide specialist nurse-led clinics for the assessment, treatment and management of continence issues.
• Develop close working relationships with the MDT and families whilst being an advocate for the child.
• Assist in evaluation, audit and development of the service.
• Contribute to MDT meetings.
• Provide on-going training for children, families and staff who support children with continence issues.
• Manage and triage referrals onto the service as well as a caseload of patients.

• The post holder will also work in partnership with children, young people, their parents/carers, and all other multidisciplinary agencies to achieve the best outcomes in continence management.

Key Responsibilities:

• To use specialist skills and knowledge of bladder and bowel issues; to support to children,young people and their families in the community setting.
• To work as a senior specialist nurse within the Paediatric Bladder and Bowel Care Teamsupporting the clinical service manager in delivering a high-quality Paediatric bladderand bowel care service.
• To work as a senior specialist nurse within the Paediatric Bladder and Bowel Community Nursing Team supporting the delivery of a high-quality Paediatric bladder and bowel care service.
• To line manage staff within the Paediatric Continence Service.
• To provide nurse-led clinics for the treatment and management of childhood continenceissues.
• To provide nurse-led clinics for the treatment and management of childhood continenceissues.
• To provide a service, demonstrating a sound understanding of issues relating to theidentification, assessment, treatment and management of bladder and bowel care needsin children and adolescents.
• To maintain a close working relationship with, and support colleagues within the community MDT.
• Assist in developing the service in relation to relevant benchmarking documents e.g., NICE guidance, ensuring the use of best practice, evidence-based care, clinical audit andevaluation of services.
• Be a strong patient advocate, ensuring that the care of the children and young peoplereflect best clinical standards and treat children and adolescents with dignity and respect.
• To assist in providing on-going training to meet the educational needs of 0 19 public healthnursing staff supporting children with continence difficulties.
• To contribute to multi-agency meetings.
• To manage and triage referrals coming into the service and have an over-view of all caseload and waiting list activity and to be aware of when to refer to Tier 3 service ifreferral is above the clinical skill level of Band 7 Specialist Continence Nurse in Line withNICE Guidelines.
• To deputise in the absence of the clinical service manager at Senior Managementmeetings as required.
• To contribute to multi-agency meetings.

Clinical Skills

• To function as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionallyaccountable for own unsupervised actions guided by the professional code of conduct andorganisation guidelines and protocols.
• The post holder will have Current Effective Status on the Nursing and Midwifery Council(NMC).
• To actively manage and triage referrals coming into the Paediatric continence service andhave an over-view of all case load and waiting list activity.
• Be a strong patient advocate, ensuring that the care of the children and young peoplereflect best clinical standards and treat children and adolescents with dignity and respect.
• To be able to assess and develop plans of care to meet the needs of children and youngpeople: ensuring the voice of the child is reflected within all care planning.
• To provide children, young people, and their families, with information and education thusensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence, and quality oflife.
• To ensure practice is supported by research, evidence-based practice, literature and peerreview.
• To provide telephone and or video assessment and advice where appropriate
• Ensure contemporaneous nursing records are maintained for children and young people.
• To ensure all local safeguarding procedures are followed in accordance with policy to safeguard children and young people.

Leadership

• To lead the Paediatric Continence service offering support and guidance for juniormembers of the team.
• To advise, encourage and share knowledge, utilising the latest research and practicedevelopment.
• To give specialist advice on bladder and bowel issues, lead and participate in servicedevelopment including pathways of care and clinical policies to optimise service provisionwithin allocated resources and planned future services.
• To advise and lead on resources available to maintain service provision and ensurepatients receive optimum care.
• To contribute to service evaluations and reviews to assess the workload and make plansfor service development.
• To provide effective clinical leadership and supervision and to function as a good rolemodel at all times.
• To participate in the development of productive working relationships throughout the organisation, promoting integrated professional working internally and externally.
• To participate in the audit process, linking in with the clinical governance agenda.
• To regularly update the Clinical Lead for Specialist Childrens Nursing on service deliverywait times and numbers on caseload.

Administration

• To be computer literate and encourage implementation of the organisation Digital Strategy.
• To manage eHealth Roster for Paediatric Continence Team
• To ensure accurate recording of actions, and updating patients records, alwaysmaintaining confidentiality.
• To take part, and assist, in the planning and administration relating to day to day runningof the caseload.

Communication

• To have a wide range of knowledge in approaches to communicating and managing patientcare.
• To be able to effectively communicate with CYP & their carers, colleagues, peers, seniormanagers and clinical leads within the Trust.
• To be able to communicate complex patient related information facilitating positiveoutcomes and ensuring collaborative working.
• Proactively contribute to implementation of service user views, ensuring findings are actedon appropriately.

Training

• To function as mentor to students, providing effective education, facilitating theirdevelopment, and promoting high standards of nursing care.
• To ensure own continued professional development, Liaison with Online Continence
• Forum & Yearly attendance at Conference (In line with NICE guidelines).
• To undertake, and assist, in the planning of own mandatory training and workshops.
• To undertake a regular appraisal, developing a personal development plan that includesclinical competencies reflecting the health needs of the local population and relates to organisation strategy.
• To support training as part of the role including changes to professional development andimplementation of new policies and guidelines.
• To provide training and updates for children, parents, carers, other health care and externalagencies (where appropriate) in both formal and informal settings, including theorganisation and participation in study days and workshops.
