The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a qualified Senior Perfusion Scientist to join their dynamic team of approximately 20 perfusionists and surgical care practitioners. This role involves providing comprehensive extracorporeal life support during open-heart surgeries and related procedures for both adult and pediatric patients. The department is recognized for its high standards, having received the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery award for Best Perfusion Team in 2022. Responsibilities include managing cardiopulmonary bypass equipment, facilitating transportation for ECMO services, participating in on-call duties, and contributing to departmental training, policies, and ongoing research.

Candidates must possess strong communication and negotiation skills, as they will interact with multi-disciplinary teams and address complex patient needs. The position also involves maintaining clinical equipment, procuring supplies, and developing strategies for effective patient care. The role offers a £3,500 Recruitment and Retention Payment and a relocation support option, welcoming applicants from overseas and encouraging personal and professional development within the supportive environment of the perfusion team.
