Experience of complex discharge planning and liaison with community services.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 or existing Band 6 wishing to specialise in this dynamic clinical area, to join a well-established Acute Stroke team at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital.
You will work with the wider MDT to provide high-quality therapy intervention, working towards service improvement and development. In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills by deputising for the team leader and providing day-to-day management of Band 5, assistant staff, and students. You will have:
- Opportunities to gain experience across all aspects of the acute inpatient stroke pathway.
- Experience of complex discharge planning and liaison with community services
- Full support from the Team Leader, Clinical Therapy Lead and peers

- Perform specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse stroke presentations to provide a therapeutic diagnosis and develop and deliver a specialised individual treatment programme.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
- Participate in CPD and other departmental activities.
- Supervise staff in Acute Stroke Unit Setting at a lower grade and students (own discipline).
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, including managing patients in your care and working without direct supervision.
- Maintain respiratory competencies to facilitate participation in out of hours service as required
- To deputise for the Band 7 in their absence.
- Good time management, good organisational skills, a flexible approach, effective interpersonal skills, and problem-solving ability are required.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams practice within the department.
- Work within Trust Guidelines and CSP Guidelines.
- To participate in the evening, weekend and statutory holiday on-call duties.
