Report on improvement initiatives across NHS England on occasion to Director level.

We are seeking a credible Senior Clinical Manager with experience of delivering strategic objectives through diverse nursing workforce improvement projects.

Working as part of the Clinical Practice Team the postholder will provide subject matter expertise to support delivery of NHS wide nursing workforce improvement programmes with a particular focus on community nursing programmes.

The successful candidate willensure that best practice is developed and delivered at organisational and departmental levels through challenging ways of working and persuade, motivate and influence other senior leaders to realign their practice where necessary.

Further, the post holder will oversee the tracking of progress against plans and transition milestones, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to flag issues, risks and concerns.


As Senior Clinical Manager, the post holder will:

  • Facilitate local solutions with NHS providers to support the drive to improve clinical practice to ensure this is allocated to those that need it most.
  • Identify key local priorities for NHS England in relation to the nursing practice
  • Support the Assistant Director of Clinical Practice to manage and deliver workforce transformation programmes including reporting on progress and identifying trusts in need of further support within the region.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to obtain best practice approaches that can be shared and adopted across the country in relation to workforce transformation
  • Possess a track record of managing and resolving complex clinical practice issues in large organisations and work with
  • senior trust leads to deliver workforce transformation programmes.
  • Possess experience of working with senior officials in a number of government/civil service organisations to coordinate delivery of policy and/or regulatory programmes.
  • Report on improvement initiatives across NHS England on occasion to Director level
  • To support the Director of Nursing for System & Professional Development to successfully achieve delivery of the CNO National Nurse Manifesto.
