Specialist Treatment and Recovery Service (STaRS) is a unique, multi-disciplinary team offering both in-patient and community adult mental health rehabilitation services.
Occupational therapy is highly regarded within the team and this is an excellent opportunity to work in a truly multi-disciplinary way with colleagues including nurses, recovery workers, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists as well as with the Associate Practitioners and Assistants who are part of the OT team.
The team works with up to 40 people in the community and also has 5 in-patient beds (3 male/2 female). There is an expectation that the post holder will base themselves at the STaRS team base at Townend Court in Hull as well as being willing to work shifts and weekends as required.
There is potential for this job to be offered as a Band 5-6 development post dependent on the applicant. Qualified occupational therapist wishing to return to practice are also encouraged to apply.
The core functions of this post include assessing and treating your own specialist caseload of clients for a professional OT service, providing specialist OT advice to other disciplines, supervising junior staff, students, support workers, leading/contributing to clinical audits, undertaking research and ensuring effective patient/service-user care is maintained.
The post holder will be expected to work independently using the MOHO as the main framework for assessment. They will need to possess effective time management skills and be able to commute within the Hull and East Riding area. There will also be an expectation that the post holder hold a Care Co-ordinator role for some patients going forward.
