An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to work as part of the burns and plastic surgery therapy team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
You will work as an inter-disciplinary Rehabilitation Assistant supporting the role of all members of the team to ensure high quality patient-focused care to in and out-patients who may have complex acute or chronic rehabilitation needs after having a burn injury or plastic surgery.
You will have opportunities to spend time with other members of the MDT, to appreciate their roles in the rehabilitation of the burns and plastic surgery patients throughout their journey, and attend relevant meetings to set goals, plan and manage care plans accordingly. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and ability to work in a critical care.
You should be able to work as directed by the qualified burns and plastic surgery therapists but also be confident and competent in carrying your own caseload and reporting back to the team. You should therefore demonstrate the ability to motivate the patient in order to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
Assisting the Qualified Physiotherapists in the delivery of high quality rehabilitation care and to help facilitate safe discharges from hospital.
Working directly with patients to carryout treatment programs as directed by the physiotherapists and reporting back. Assisting the physiotherapists with the more complex patients. Good moving and handling skills with patients.
Working with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending handovers and feeding information into and back from to the therapy team.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team.
Be able to motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, and also have an empathetic nature.
Administrative tasks and equipment management. Including note writing, data collection for audit purposes, good general IT skills are required.
