The Associate Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) focused on providing specialized nursing support to patients with oesophago-gastric cancer. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, the Associate CNS is responsible for enhancing the patient experience, addressing supportive and palliative needs, and coordinating care. Key responsibilities include acting as a primary contact for patients, providing symptom management and advice, overseeing communication among healthcare providers, and participating in the monitoring and management of treatment protocols.

Candidates must possess oncology experience, leadership skills, and strong communication abilities to effectively support patients and their families. The role includes medical assessments, patient education, call for psychological support, and the continuous evaluation and improvement of service delivery. Additionally, the Associate CNS will engage in professional development, participate in educational initiatives, and contribute to research and audit activities to foster best practice in patient care.
