We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 7 Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) to join our dynamic and well-established team of Cancer Care ACPs in the Macmillan Acute Oncology Service (MAOS)

The Cancer Care ACP team is divided into the Inpatient and MAOS ACP teams to provide seamless care for our service users. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Macmillan Acute Oncology Service where we provide prompt reviews of our patients by assessing them when they present to UHS for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency cancer care 24hrs a day. Patients who are able access service will have a formal Cancer diagnosis and will be experiencing complications of their treatment , their disease, or both The MAOS team are also currently key providers of the Cancer Care Emergency Line, alongside the MAOS Nursing team. This aspect is fundamental to the delivery of the service and is one of the primary ways in which patients have direct access to receive high quality telephone triage and allow for direct admission into our dedicated 24/7 assessment unit.

You will also be trained to handle calls to the Cancer Care Emergency Helpline and will be the principle person responsible for the delivery of this service, ensuring that quality standards are met and that patient safety is optimised.

All Advanced Clinical Practice Education is set around the 4 Pillars Framework that includes Clinical, Leadership & Management, Research & Development and Education. You will be enrolled on a fully funded Masters Level Academic pathway during your training and this study would take place alongside clinical work. Currently the education is provided in a 'modular' format from the University of Southampton or via an Apprenticeship Pathway such as those provided by the Universities of Bournemouth or Bristol. Either stream takes approximately 3 years to complete including the dissertation and all provide trainees with the essential education required for the role, and is decided by our lead Education depending on availability at the time. After completing their academic pathways all Trainees are then required to present a portfolio to a select panel to ensure you are ready to progress to a Band 8a ACP.

The service operates 24/7 , including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

We are happy to consider either part time working at 30 hours per week minimum or full time at 37.5 hours

You will practice clinically within agreed care protocols; these will be monitored by the Lead ACP/Clinical Supervisor
