An opportunity has arisen to become an essential member of the Salaried Dental Service working as part of a team of clinicians within Cheshire and Merseyside as part of the Dental Network within Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. They will support the Clinical Director and Oral Surgery Lead in the delivery of minor oral surgery contracts in a salaried primary dental care setting for patients referred from local dental practitioners (including Community Dental Service colleagues) and other health care professionals as appropriate. The post holder will work alongside specialists in oral surgery and offer support to junior colleagues, and be able to work independently as a senior oral surgeon.

To provide outpatient minor oral surgery for patients at clinic sites across Cheshire and Merseyside (Warrington, Halton & St Helens, Western Cheshire, Vale Royal and Sandbach) as required by service need.
Treatment types include :
Extractions of single and multi-rooted erupted teeth beyond the skill level of a general dentist.
Removal of buried roots and fractured or residual root fragments
Routine third molar surgery removal of simple impacted / ectopic / supernumerary teeth
Management of acute infection
This list is not exhaustive. Treatment may be carried out using local anaesthetic with or without intravenous sedation (usually as operator-sedationist).
To provide advice and assistance to other staff and referring practitioners as required.
To liaise with existing specialist senior dental officers over management of cases and service development, including the development and implementation of best practice within Clinical Networks.
To ensure referring practitioners receive adequate feedback following assessment and treatment of referred cases.
To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes as required.
To participate in clinical governance, peer review and audit as required.
To ensure all patient records are of a high standard and are kept in accordance with Organisational Policies and local arrangements.

To manage and provide high quality treatment planning, preventative and NHS dental care treatment services for oral surgery patients accepted by our service
Demonstrate additional clinical skills in the field of oral surgery and be able to independently provide tier 2 oral surgery services
Provide the role of clinical lead at base and designated clinics and be available to clinicians for advice and support
Maintain and develop relationships with local GDPs and the LDN
Develop relationships with other parts of the health economy
Undertake regular reviews of case load
Ensure that appropriate recall intervals are being set
To take a role in the performance management of the SLAs we have with the commissioner ensuring successful delivery both in qualitative and quantitative terms
To be responsible for the line management of clinicians and dental care professionals working within the service
Organise training for staff or groups of staff in a clinical area
To be actively engaged in service improvement
To maintain professional knowledge, skills and awareness of current developments within dentistry and participate in professional development activities such as
1. Clinical Supervision
2. Peer Review
3. Clinical Governance
4. Audit
Demonstrate application of the principals of ethical behaviour relating to dentistry, including honesty, confidentiality, professional integrity and compliance with the Standards for Dental Professionals laid down by the GDC
Keep contemporaneous records in accordance with Trust protocols.
Other duties as may from time-to-time be delegated by the Clinical Director or other authorised officer.
