University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is currently looking for a demonstrably experienced and dedicated physiotherapist to join our substantial and dynamic Trauma and Orthopaedic Team. This post would suit Band 5's looking to specialise or current Band 6's who would like to broaden their experience. This post is also suitable for a Band 5 transitioning to Band 6 on completion of training and competency to deliver orthopaedic services within UHP NHS Trust.
The team provides physiotherapeutic cover to major trauma, paediatric orthopaedic, fractured neck of femur, day-case, and fracture clinic services. The team also provides physiotherapeutic cover to elective orthopaedic, outpatient orthopaedic and elective neurosurgical services.
This provides a wide range of opportunities to develop specialist clinical and managerial skills within this area. The successful candidate will be joining a large and established team in delivering a seven day physiotherapy service including weekend working and late shift to patients as part of the wider multidisciplinary unit and South West Peninsula major trauma centre.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the orthopaedic clinical areas. This will include fracture clinic, the elective ward, fractured neck of femur ward, trauma ward and day case ward. This will involve providing a seven day service, which will include bank holiday and late shift working.
To assist the Team Leader in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Physiotherapy Service provided to patients by the orthopaedic team, on a day-to-day basis.
To maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner. To assess and treat own caseload of orthopaedic patients, who may have a variety of complex presentations.
To deputise for the Team Leader as necessary and to take clinical lead responsibility for the orthopaedic team at weekends. To provide support to junior members of the team outside of normal working hours when required.
The post holder will also be required to mentor and appraise students and junior members of the team, and will assume responsibility for service development as delegated by the Team Lead.
