Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme.

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Senior Specialist Physiotherapist in Pelvic floor dysfunction as part of the Physiotherapy team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. Part-time applications will be considered.

The service covers all three hospital sites, these sites are covered by the team of therapists and the clinical lead.

As a team, we pride ourselves on our development and positive approach to change, as well as having a flexible and supportive team ethos. We have strong links with other therapy teams, other services including urogynaecology, urology and colorectal and with the wider MDT. The team is currently expanding due to the rolling out of local Perinatal Pelvic Health Services and the successful candidate will take a key role with the clinical Lead in setting up and delivering this service.

You will be expected to provide specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for a caseload of complex patients within the speciality of pelvic floor dysfunction. This will include female and male patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain.

This post will play a key role in reviewing pathways for patients within PFD physiotherapy, auditing and developing other team members to deliver a high quality therapy service for patients to ensure best practice.

You will deputise for the APP Clinical lead as required, supporting in the delivery of service improvements and providing specialist clinical knowledge in relation to service development.

You will jointly lead appropriate education and training of students, therapy staff and other health care professionals including GPs, consultants and other AHPs with the clinical lead and other Senior specialist Physiotherapists, and you will be responsible for the supervision of more junior physiotherapists/students within the team.

The post requires the individual to have specialist clinical knowledge, skills and experience with patients with Pelvic floor dysfunction conditions, post graduate qualifications in a relevant area would be an advantage.
