The House Keeper will play a crucial role in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, collaborating with the nurse in charge to maintain clean, safe, and comfortable facilities for patients. Key responsibilities include coordinating cleaning, stocking equipment, ordering supplies, managing catering, and addressing individual patient needs. The post holder will monitor quality standards, report issues, and ensure compliance with cleaning policies.
Additional duties involve maintaining cleanliness in patient spaces, transporting equipment, logging records, and assisting with staff training. The House Keeper will oversee food safety practices, manage stock rotation, and ensure all equipment is functional and well-maintained. Strong communication, respect for patient dignity, and effective customer service are essential.
This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with contractors and support services. Regular reviews of the job description will ensure alignment with operational needs.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the Neonatal Intensive Care team, working with the nurse in charge of the shift. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, stocking equipment, ordering stores, catering, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the sister/charge nurse.
The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support service departments. He/she will monitor quality standards, report deficiencies and appropriate action taken to the nurse in charge.
