We are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious dentist with good interpersonal and clinical skills to join the Community Dental Service in Oldham and Bury. Working as part of a team and with excellent nursing support, this post will suit a dentist who is committed to providing a high standard of oral health care. There will be on occasion, the requirement to work across other clinical sites in Greater Manchester.
The post-holder will be part of a team providing a high standard of dental care for patients who are unable to receive care in a general dental practice environment, including patients with disabilities and children requiring inhalation sedation or general anaesthesia. The successful candidate will preferably have current or recent experience of working in a UK-based salaried primary care dental service. Ideally the candidate should have established and demonstrable skills in the provision of oral health care for children and adults with special needs. The candidate will also ideally have experience of providing dental care under sedation and general anaesthesia, domiciliary dentistry and dental epidemiological fieldwork. Candidates who have worked in General Dental Services and have an interest in paediatric or special care dentistry will also be considered.

To provide dental care for priority groups in a variety of settings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a wide range of primary dental care for patients including children, people with disabilities, older people and those referred by general dental practitioners.
Adhere to department and professional standards/protocols without direct supervision. Comment on department policies and propose changes to departmental working practices or procedures as necessary.
Access communication from the Trust and from the department via e-mail.
Complete FP17 forms for patients and determine which band the course of treatment falls into.
Organise the collection of patient charges and report any bad debtors to the Head of Dental services.
Provide dental care in the domiciliary setting for patients who are housebound.
Provide dental care in hospital under general anaesthesia for patients who cannot have their treatment provided in the clinic.
Support the Head of Dental Services to maintain health and safety and security within the department, reporting risks and taking appropriate action as required.
Participate in audit and peer review as required.
The post holder will be required to undertake any other duties and responsibilities within the framework of the post.
