Prescription Advisor Part Time
We are seeking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to join our professional and supportive team at our Glevum Way Surgery in Abbeydale, Gloucester.
The role involves the administration and issue of electronic and paper prescriptions, working to agreed procedures, protocols, and timescales. Contracted hours will be 16 hours per week worked over three days (Tues 12.00- 18.00, Weds 14.00- 18.00 & Fri 12.00-18.00). Ideally you will also need to have the flexibility to be able to cover additional hours when the other Prescription Advisors are absent.
Starting salary will be £11.90 per hour.

-To issue all repeat prescriptions both paper and electronic as requested by patients
-Ensuring all functions are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and timescales, reporting/liaising with the Pharmacy Technician.
-Have a full understanding of the prescription process within SystmOne including the online system
-Assist patients to use the online system with regard to signing up and ordering prescriptions
-Deal with on line prescription requests
-Liaise with GPs/Clinicians on prescription queries
-With the consent of a GP reissue certain medications (An exhaustive list of medications allowed will be issued by the team will be given by the GP’s and updated on a regular basis)
-Update the list of medications as above electronically in conjunction with the GP responsible for prescribing within the practice
-Liaise with Nursing/Residential homes on prescription queries
-Liaise with community pharmacies on prescription queries
-Ensure that all paper prescriptions are filed in the appropriate place for collection by patients and or pharmacies
-Ensure prescriptions are logged out to pharmacies on the clinical system when collected
-Send prescriptions to patients who have sent SAE’s and ensure this is indicated on the patient notes
-Ensure that any prescriptions which are reprinted for any reason are logged in the appropriate file explaining the reason for the reprint
-Ensure reauthorisations are allocated to appropriate clinicians and in appropriate amounts both manual and electronic reauthorisations (ie, no more than 10 per session)
-Document any significant events in relation to prescriptions
-Carry out specific prescribing audits as appropriate
