The Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist (Band 8b) to join the Adult Acute Inpatient Service and High Dependency Rehabilitation Service in Chester. This role is part of an initiative aimed at enhancing psychological and trauma-informed care within the Trust's inpatient services, and it involves working across two acute adult inpatient wards, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and a high dependency rehabilitation ward. The successful candidate will provide clinical and professional leadership, conduct highly specialist assessments and interventions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while also offering support to inpatient staff through reflective practice and debriefings.

In addition to leading the psychology service, the Principal Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for developing a high-quality, evidence-based framework for the psychological care provided and will play a key role in training and supervising multi-professional staff. The position offers the opportunity to adapt the work to match the skills and interests of the applicant as well as strong connections with local DClinPsy training programs for trainee placements.
