The Trust Clinical Fellow (StR Higher) in Cardiothoracic Anaesthetics at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust offers a comprehensive training program in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, including both elective and emergency management of patients undergoing various cardiac and thoracic surgeries. Successful candidates will receive structured training to develop skills in managing conditions such as coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease, with additional opportunities to learn transoesophageal echocardiography and regional anaesthesia techniques.

Fellows will work closely with consultant staff in theatre and critical care settings, with gradual increases in independence as they gain experience. The role also includes participation in the on-call rota for critical care, contributing to emergency cases outside of regular hours. The fellowship is designed to provide a tailored educational experience, guided by a dedicated supervisor, ensuring that candidates can progress in their clinical competencies throughout the year.
