The role of Trust LED(s) in General Adult Psychiatry (CT1 level) at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Winchester offers a full-time specialty position on male and female general adult wards. The successful applicant will work alongside two consultant psychiatrists, a Specialty doctor or SpR, and a foundation doctor in a collaborative ‘firm’ structure. Candidates should possess foundation level experience and ideally some exposure to psychiatry. Although this is a non-training post, educational development through a consultant supervisor and reflective practice with the multidisciplinary team is encouraged. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, managing physical health issues, and participating in ward rounds and meetings, while also being involved in audits and clinical governance.

The position requires proficiency in patient documentation, prescribing, and ongoing patient assessments, with a focus on key mental health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, and personality disorders. The Trust emphasises educational growth, supportive supervision, and teamwork, ensuring candidates can develop their skills in history taking, mental state examinations, and patient management.
