The Podiatry and Orthotic Department is currently based at Pontypridd Cottage Hospital however although not confirmed as yet this will change and there will be requirement for flexibility in the working pattern and locations.
A rare opportunity has presented itself for an operational support manager to join the Podiatry and Orthotic Department. This is a fixed term full time post running until 31st March 2026 and the individual will work to the leadership team providing support whilst the structure for Orthotics and Podiatry is reviewed. Planning, Performance, Health and safety and Audit will be key responsibilities within the role function together with opportunity to support service development and undertake project work.
The Podiatry and Orthotic Department is currently based at Pontypridd Cottage Hospital however although not confirmed as yet this will change and there will be requirement for flexibility in the working pattern and locations. Opportunity for hybrid working discussion and base to be agreed on appointment.
This post is fixed term until 31st March 2026 due to - meet the needs of the service
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post holder will :
- Hold a key role within the department in the delivery of Referral to Treatment Time (RTT) targets.
- Hold a key role within the department for recruitment in line with UHB Policies and employment law.
- Support the management team with the planning, organising and management of staff and services to ensure delivery of a safe effective service within resource and clinical governance.
- Support collegues to manage concerns and complaints in line with UHB policies and procedures.
- Be required to work with a high level of autonomy and independence using their own initiative, and has significant discretion to work within broad occupational policies.
- Support with the line management of administrative support staff within the designated area of responsibility.
- Act as key point of escalation and direct contact, troubleshooting issues which may prevent timely provision of patient care, liaising with Clinical and management colleagues as appropriate; escalating complex or contentious issues.
- Establish and keep up-to-date information on accurate databases.
- Be conversant with the operational activities and the performance requirements of the department.
- Contribute to plans to improve efficiency, support changes of practice and new initiatives and to meet a variety of targets and objectives.
- Work with Senior Clinicians, Managers and external stakeholders to deliver change.
- Operationally support the effective delivery of key operational services and targets.
