British Home is looking for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the vibrant Therapy team. Reporting to the Head of Therapy, you will monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effective intervention.

l To provide physiotherapy input to residents with a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological and other complex conditions, treatments and goal setting to own designated caseload of residents.

l To use evidence based practice and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Ensure the programmes reflects the current population of the services wishes and preferences

l To promote an enablement culture and approach to care within the British home.

l Develop clinical and professional knowledge thereby acting as a resource for colleagues, residents and their families.

About us

To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.

To be able to successfully carry out a full neuro assessment, identify impairments, plan treatment (Care Plan) and hand over exercises/treatment to therapy assistants following demonstration where a case is complex (to pick up the case load),

To be able to sign post residents or refer on for Xrays (clinically reason), specialist treatment or further assessments where case is complex,

To have knowledge of when the spasticity clinic, orthotics, SLT are required,

To be able to compile a report therapy input and progression to social workers/relatives.

To ensure residents are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their rehabilitation plans wherever possible.

To adapt practice to meet individual residents circumstances, including due regard for cultural and social differences in addition to their cognitive and physical disabilities.

To use appropriate method of communication with residents and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and their understanding of the condition. Communication skills of persuasion, explanation and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of residents.

To work in collaboration with/refer to local authorities/Primary Care Trusts in repose to identified patient

To demonstrate high level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice.

To train/supervise therapy assistants and students

Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service

Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service

To contribute to the day-to-day coordination of the physiotherapy service within and have responsibility for the management and delivery of a physiotherapy service to a neurological caseload

To be aware of funding arrangements for all residents.

Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management

Keep up-to-date to clinical expertise according to HCPC and other associated professional standards

Be responsible for the safe use of equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy duties and report any hazards or defects for repair through the appropriate channels

Maintain good relationships with other multi-professional visiting the home

Experience of working with a range of partner organisations.

Knowledge of the enabling approach to support people to meet their full potential

Evidence of continuous professional development

To comply with all statutory requirement and legislation i.e. Health & Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Environmental Health etc
