About the role...


Totally Urgent Care Division is a leading provider of national urgent care and out of hospital services following the integration of Vocare and Greenbrook. We have an exciting opportunity for Nurse Practitioners to join our team on a permanent basis, based at our Urgent Treatment Centre in Sunderland Royal UTC

Working as a Nurse Practitioner within our Urgent Treatment Centre, you will provide high quality and timely patient centred care. You will work as a part of a team, within a defined area of practice and with access to support from a GP or Advanced Practitioner. Undertake assessments of a range of health and clinical needs of a patient within scope of competence and using clinical practice skills and own clinical judgement diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients.

This role is supported by a variable rota covering Days, Evenings, Weekends and bank holidays.


Your day to day...


As a Nurse Practitioner, you will:
  • Act as a clinical practitioner, demonstrating clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles though not yet at an advanced level
  • Undertake consultations with a range of patients as an autonomous practitioner taking a history, carrying out physical examination, using knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnose, within level of competence
  • Refer patients for investigations where necessary/appropriate
  • Make final diagnosis, decide on and carry out treatment, including the administration and/or supply of medicines working within PGDs as indicated to address patient's needs
  • Act as a clinical resource for non-clinical staff who may require advice and support
  • Maintain contemporaneous records of the consultation and action taken using the computer software and where necessary written records, in line with NMC guidance and local policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Remain focused on the delivery of an excellent service within an unpredictable, diverse and challenging workload

Qualifications, Experience & Training...

  • Registered Nurse - First Level Nurse or other healthcare professional qualifications leading to registration
  • Clinical examination qualification
  • Completion or minor illness course or equivalent
  • Complete of minor injury course or equivalentEvidence of study in paediatric minor injury or willingness to develop these skills
  • Minimum 5 year post registration experience
  • 2 years' experience of working as a practitioner in a primary care environment, Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre, MAU/EAU or other first contact setting, evidence of excellent assessment skills
  • Evidence of continuous professional development related to work as a non-medical practitioner
  • Independent/supplementary prescriber willingness to undertake
