Job summaryWe have an exciting opportunity for 4 experienced nurses to join Health Education and Improvement Wales as clinical leads to support the delivery of the Strategic Nursing Workforce Plan (SNWP) for Wales.
The Strategic Nursing Plan for Wales is a plan for employers and the nursing profession in Wales. It is a plan for investment and for sustainability: to recruit high calibre individuals into the profession, to train more nurses, to retain our dedicated nursing workforce and to transform the way nurses work. The plan offers solutions over the next ten years to transform and support the nursing workforce to deal with the challenges and issues faced by the workforce.
As a clinical lead within the programme, the post holder will be responsible for working alongside other departments within HEIW and other NHS Wales organisations including Health Boards/Trusts to deliver aspects of the SNWP.
The successful candidate will require experience as a senior nurse and will be expected to apply their knowledge and experience of working at a senior level to the delivery of the SNWP.
Although this post has been advertised as a fixed term appointment, NHS staff will be offered the appointment as a secondment. If you wish to apply as a secondment opportunity, you must have your line manager's approval. This post may be extended or made permanent at the end of the fixed term/secondment period depending on available funding and business needs.
Main duties of the jobLeading the management of change using best practice, to ensure successful delivery of the plan's objectives.
Delivering the Strategic Nursing Workforce Plan actions and transforming the nursing workforce by using various strategies to influence key stakeholders including Welsh Government, professional bodies, senior leaders and the nursing workforce.
Interpreting national guidelines and policy to enable management of the Programme including risks and developing contingency plans as and when necessary.
Supporting improved performance and service delivery in NHS Wales through nursing workforce transformation by providing expert/specialist clinical workforce re-design knowledge and technical expertise for effective strategic support in delivering the SNWP
Ensuring programme risks and issues are monitored and managed by developing creative solutions for mitigating actions where necessary and ensure these are escalated as appropriate.
Working with colleagues to ensure the scope and objectives of the programmes are clear and interdependencies are managed.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
