This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Pharmacist interested in specialising in clinical trials to join our dedicated Pharmacy trials unit, led by our Clinical Trials and Research Lead Pharmacist.

You will work as part of the clinical trials team setting-up new studies and contributing to the on-going management of established trials across a wide portfolio of specialties. You will be required to work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues, research teams and external trial Sponsors to ensure that trials are set up in a timely manner and managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). A background in clinical trials is not essential as full training will be provided to develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in this post.

This is a full time Clinical trials position but the option to include clinical pharmacy services within the post may be available. Please contact us to discuss this or other changes to the working pattern.

Your day to day duties will include but may not be limited to:

  • Provide pharmaceutical advice for UHBW clinical trials
  • To write and update the UHBW dispensing standard operating procedures for clinical trials.
  • To design pre-printed clinical trial prescriptions or set-up treatment on chemocare prescribing system when appropriate
  • To supervise or perform the clinical check of pharmacy trials unit clinical trial prescriptions
  • To liaise with clinical trial representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, clinicians, trial co-ordinators, nursing and pharmacy staff to ensure that all trials are conducted appropriately and comply with legal and local requirements
  • Deliver our late-duty (overtime) and weekend and Bank Holiday (off-duty) shifts on a rota basis, as outlined in the job description

  • Show a compassionate approach to individual patient care
