We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our friendly/nurturing Inherited Metabolic Disorder (IMD) dietetic team. We have 22.5 hours a week (0.6 whole time equivalent) available on a permanent basis for a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant post in this speciality.
This post involves working alongside 3 specialist dietitians and a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to assist in the provision of the dietetic service to our IMD patients. The job is mainly office and outpatient based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with some occasional ward visits.
You should have experience of working as a therapy assistant within a health care setting and an awareness of the complexity of working with patients with chronic conditions such as IMDs. You should have experience of cooking and modifying recipes, teaching and training others to improve nutritional care and experience of using social media with the public/patients.
*To work as a member of the Inherited Metabolic Disorders specialist multi-professional team to support and assist Dietitians in providing high quality nutritional care to outpatients and inpatients, and to other contracted users of the service.
*To be involved in assessment of patients' nutritional intakes, development and delivery of nutritional treatment plans as guided by the specialist dietitians.
*To work with the dietitians, teams, outpatient staff, carers, colleges, day centres, care homes and nutritional companies to help optimise care for the patients.
*To undertake independently phone reviews of patients and report to the specialist dietitians.
*To be responsible for the ordering of stock and sample provision for patients.
*To undertake administrative duties which facilitate the clinical care of patients and the requirements of the dietetic team.
*To work as a member of the team supporting clinical audit and patient nutritional assessment and management
*To work within the team to support audit, data collection, management and report writing
