We welcome applications for a Healthcare Support Worker within the Outpatient Department at Victoria Hospital. This is a fixed term post.

The Outpatient Department houses a huge diversity of services across multiple specialities. We require you to have excellent communication skills, good IT skills, are flexible and adaptable, can work well within a team whilst using your own initiative and posses good customer service and problem solving skills. You will be expected to carry out assigned tasks involving direct patient care and the smooth running of the clinical services, in addition to supporting registered nurses under supervision. There is an opportunity to participate and develop new skills after a period of supported learning.

There are various positions available including full and part time; all shift patterns will be to meet the needs of the service. These posts are based in Victoria Hospital, however you must be committed to provide flexibility to work across both acute sites

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
