Job summaryWe are looking for motivated and passionate Neonatal nurses who would have the QIS (Qualified in Speciality)
Registered Nurse position available to join our highly skilled team of nursing staff on SCBU Our SCBU is a Level 1 - 7 cot unit.
We are really proud that our unit has a gold accreditation for UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative - the first in the UK.

We are the only neonatal unit in the country to achieve the Gold Award for Unicef Baby Friendly. This is testament to the hard work and development opportunities that are constantly on offer in Harrogate. We are constantly striving to improve ourselves and our services, and I am proud of the support that all staff give to each other.
We offer our Paediatric Nurses the opportunity to complete a rotation to the paediatric ward for a fixed term to maintain the inter working between Woodlands & SCBU.
Main duties of the jobA 'level one unit' means that the level of care provided is for babies of 32 weeks' gestation and above. Babies below this gestation should be transferred to a level 3 unit in-utero. If this is not possible they will be stabilised after birth within SCBU and then retrieved by the Neonatal Network Transport Team, and transferred to a tertiary centre.
In addition to premature infants, a baby may also be admitted to SCBU if they require more care.
- To be responsible for delivering care of the neonate in partnership with the family in all areas of the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
- To implement and evaluate family centred care and to be responsible for the delivery of care and assessment, development and evaluation of individual programmes of care.
- To take delegated responsibility for a group of neonates, working as part of a team ensuring the smooth operational running of the Unit.
- To be responsible for mentoring pre-registration students and more junior members of staff.
- To act as Nurse in Charge of the shift as required - QIS training is mandatory for this post
- To be responsible, with others, for cleaning the ward environment, storing equipment and goods safely.
- To actively participate in personal and professional development.
