Home Support Worker with Baillieston Community Care in Glasgow, UK
FUNCTION – To provide all aspects of care and support to sustain service users within the community whilst adopting a human rights based approach and preserving their freedom of choice, independence and dignity.
DUTIES
1. To be aware of service users emotional, social and physical needs, reporting back to the Service Manager / Care Supervisor / CEO any concerns.
2. Provide a short break/respite service whilst the main carer has respite.
3. Accompany service users on short social journeys to cinema, shops, church etc.
4. Provide all aspects of personal care – bathing, toileting and dressing etc.
5. Overnight Support – Waking and Sleepover.
6. Assisting with meal provision, and ensuring all dietary requirements are maintained.
7. Provide a domestic and shopping service to service users.
8. Record in the relevant documentation the care that has been delivered contemporaneously. Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.
9. Assist in the Day Service as required, and participate fully in social activities and events.
10. Undertake any training deemed necessary by the Learning & Development Manager i.e. Moving & Assistance, Dementia Awareness, Adult Support & Protection, First Aid, Food Hygiene etc.
11. Must be willing to study for vocational training as required by the Care Inspectorate and the Scottish Social Services Council.
12. Must be willing to obtain appropriate registration with the SSSC within 6 months of starting employment, and ensuring annual payment is made, and PRTL is maintained.
13. Assist service user with medication administration and record appropriately.
14. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
15. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.
16. Ensure full compliance with Access People Planner/care Planner – ensuring that your device is fully charged each day for work, and that you log in and out of each visit and complete all appropriate tasks.
17. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
18. Any other duties deemed relevant by the Service Manager / Supervisor / CEO.
