The NNUH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, providing first-class acute care for around one million people, living in Norfolk and surrounding areas.
Elsing ward is a 38 bedded ward that specialises in the care of older people (over 80 years old). The layout of the ward is dementia friendly, to support the care of patients presenting with complex dementia and cognitive problems.
Patients present with mild to moderate frailty with many existing co-morbidities. Patients typically have complex health needs including existing and undiagnosed cognitive impairment, or a new delirium. A small proportion of the patients require the safety of being under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DOLs), requiring enhanced observations and complex discharge planning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Band 6 or existing Band 7 to follow on from the current leadership that has changed the culture of the ward making it a great place to work and environment for patients and relatives. This was reflected in the recent staff survey.
Elsing Ward is one of 5 wards within the Older Peoples Medicine Directorate (OPM), providing a forward thinking, evolutionary and innovative service to patients.
