Job summary

This role will support the Trust's and the Emergency Operations Centre's (EOC) approach to quality assurance and quality improvement and identifies priorities in the five domains of quality, aligned with the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework: caring, responsive, effective, well-led and safe for the clinical portfolio within EOC.

The role will work to develop and support Trusts clinical initiatives and develop pathways for the Clinical Assessment Services within EOC leading to improved patient experience and supporting the Trusts/Wider NHS Agendas

Whilst accountable to the Head of Clinical Services - EOC in terms of setting overall objectives and priorities, the EOC Senior Manager (Clinical) will work closely with the other EOC Senior Managers and proactively with the Head of Service Delivery. They will also provide senior leadership for the EOC Clinical Assessment Services, EOC Senior Clinical Leaders and the EOC Clinical Staff Managers.

Main duties of the job


Clinical Quality Assurance and Compliance


Senior EOC Clinical compliance lead for safeguarding; IPC; Quality Audits and Clinical SI investigations within EOC.

Monitoring compliance of delivery and quality of Clinical workforce appraisals through the EOC leadership structure, escalating concerns to the respective Head of Operations and supporting compliance action plan development and delivery.

Ensure appropriate quality governance arrangements are in place across the EOC.

Responsible for monitoring and delivery of a specified delegated budget, ensuring the effective utilisation of financial resources throughout their area, in line with Service Line Management principles and corporate Standing Financial Instructions.

Provide quality and Clinical performance information, giving account for the respective performance and corrective action being taken through the EOC

Performance Management Reviews when required. Identify new and innovative ways of working to improve quality efficiency and effectiveness, reporting progress through the EOC Performance Management Reviews.

Provide a range of quality information in support of sustainable quality improvement. This includes working with the Trust's information and research teams to provide bespoke management information as required by the EOC SLT.

About us

The post holder will line-manage and provide professional support, development, and supervision for EOC Clinical Leaders and Clinicians in both EMAS Emergency Operations Centres. They will provide a clear focus of clinical leadership and accountability across both EOC's maximising staff performance, competence, and motivation.

The will ensure professional standards are met in-line with the both the NMC and HCPC professional code of conduct and promote high quality clinical practice.

The EOC Senior Manager Clinical will assist with developing the clinical and Urgent Care pathways for EMAS.

The post holder will have a joint responsibility in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team within both EOC's for delivery of key initiatives as required by the EOC Assistant Director of Operations and trust Medical Directorate.
