Main duties of the job

Following a comprehensive induction programme, you will undertake a rotational clinical pharmacist role working closely with pharmacy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will engage directly with your patients to achieve medicines optimisation throughout their inpatient journey from medicines reconciliation through to discharge. Rotations include a variety of specialities including stroke, frailty unit, paediatrics/neonatal, emergency department, healthcare of the older person, acute admissions unit and post-operative surgery. In addition to providing a pharmacy service at ward level, you willalsoundertake the role of responsible pharmacist when working in outpatient areas on a rotational basis.

We will provide all the resources you need to help develop your knowledge and skills during each rotation, providing support from senior clinical pharmacists, rotation objectives and study time to complete diploma work. We are continually looking to improve and develop our team and services, so all our clinical pharmacists are encouraged to contribute to our Clinical Improvement Group and Health and Wellbeing groups.

  • To undertake necessary continuing professional development in line with General Pharmaceutical Council standards.
  • To provide clinical pharmacy support to the inpatient and outpatient dispensaries and to undertake the role of Responsible Pharmacist when required.
  • To participate in the provision of medicines information and advisory services to patients and their relatives, medical and nursing staff, other healthcare professionals and organisations.
