The Role


You will be serving food in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed standards under the direction of the Manager. You will also support person-centred care by enabling service users to have their preferred choice of meals and snacks.


Responsibilities of the Host include but are not limited to the following:


  • Ensure that service users are at the heart of all decisions made regarding their meals.
  • To contribute to the efficient running of the service
  • To ensure that meals are served and presented in a visually appetising way.
  • Liaise with care staff to establish any special dietary requirements or any special eating aids required and ensure their availability.
  • Be responsible for reporting any maintenance issues to the Manager which prevents the safe handling, storage or serving of food.
  • Be competent in knowledge and practice of the Food Safety regulations.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of food for all meals and snacks.
  • The washing of crockery and cutlery using hot temperature setting on the dishwasher.
  • The setting and clearing of tables appropriate to individual needs.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the dining rooms and catering equipment located therein.
  • Communicate dietary intake to care staff for recording and ensure any other relevant documentation is up to date and accurate.
