Stand by, we'll show you...
At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First, as shown in our Outstanding for Caring CQC rating.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working in the renal OPD/Day Case Room. You will be able to develop your nursing skills in a specialist area which is key to supporting those with chronic kidney disease across our services.
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in the wide variety of renal OPD clinics (General Nephrology, Advanced Kidney Care, Transplant, Immunosuppression) and in our Day Case Room where we provide amongst other treatments - infusions, pre/post renal biopsy care, pre/post-surgical care.
You would be responsible for reviewing blood results against the recommended guidance for those with CKD. Ideally the successful candidate will be an Independent Prescriber, but this is not essential. We will provide training on how to run reports from the renal IT database, CV5.
The post is for 19 hours/week (2x9.5hour shifts) and the department is open from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday.
- To provide clinical leadership in the care of people with kidney failure, ensuring safe and compassionate care of all service users, be it in clinic, as day procedure attendance or by phone as follow up.
- To act as the clinical and managerial lead in the absence of the modality manager, by providing day to day management of a team of junior staff and leadership of relevant clinical specialist care within the department.
- To provide specialist advice to renal patients and their carers
The post holder will have good communication skills and will be expected to spend a large proportion of their time interacting with staff and patients both in the department and on the telephone. They should be computer literate.
