Chair of the Sussex Health and Care Assembly inEast Sussex inEast Sussex PUBLISHED 10 JUN 2024

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer.
Are you interested in delivering our vision for health, care and wellbeing in Sussex?

Independent Chair - Sussex Assembly

We are looking for an independent, positive, creative and flexible leader, with an outstanding track record of helping organisations navigate partnerships and form alliances to deliver positive change.

If you have experience of strategic planning in a partnership context working across statutory, voluntary and civic sectors, and someone who can quickly develop an excellent understanding of the partnership activity across health, care and wellbeing, we would like to hear from you!

We want someone who can help us use the resources we have in innovative ways to achieve the best possible outcomes for our communities. This includes the ability to both listen and engage - with communities, the public, and our partners.

The Sussex Health & Care Assembly is the statutory joint committee of Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council, West Sussex County Council and the NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board set up to meet the Health & Care Act 2022 requirement for each health and care system to establish an Integrated Care Partnership.

As the Independent Chair, you will help us align our partnership activity across our Places (East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove), to deliver our priorities as part of the Improving Lives Strategy that we share across the region, and further explore further actions we can take together to add maximum value.

You will lead the Assembly in setting a vision, strategy and clear objectives for the Integrated Care Systems (ICS) and holding the four statutory partners to account for delivery of the Improving Lives Together strategy. This will include establishing shared strategic priorities within the Sussex health and care system to tackle population health challenges and enhance services across health and social care, ensuring that the Assembly is responsive to people and communities, and that public, patient and carer voices are embedded in all of its plans and activities.

Paid on a consultancy basis. The Assembly formally meets three times per annum and it is anticipated that this role will require a maximum 10 days per annum. The daily rate will be £600 per day including any travel costs. The arrangement would be for an initial period of 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance, with an annually renewable contract subject to six months' notice by either side.

Responsible to:
Chief Executive, East Sussex County Council, as the body hosting the Assembly for the partnership.
