We are looking for someone with an interest and experience in treating anxiety using CBT. Newly qualified clinicians will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate an excellent academic track record, specific postgraduate training and experience in CBT, and a very good working knowledge of anxiety disorders and how to treat them. We are looking for colleagues who understand the importance of evidence-based treatments, supervision, research, training and dissemination. We are seeking eager, creative and excellent clinicians. Job share, secondments, and part-time working can be considered.

  • The successful applicant will provide a highly specialist psychology service to clients with anxiety disorders including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes across primary, secondary and tertiary care
  • They will offer supervision to (honorary) assistant psychologists, and act as their line managers.
  • The applicant will ensure that systems are in place and working effectively to support service delivery, as well as take a lead on a specific areas of service development.

The Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma’s remit includes the delivery and dissemination of empirically validated cognitive-behavioural treatments for panic disorder, specific phobias, social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder. The clinic provides a model of best practice in the integration of research, development and clinical treatment. Most of the treatments delivered are considered to be at the cutting edge of developments in the field. The clinic is primarily an NHS treatment service for people with anxiety disorders. Some research is also done at the clinic, with a focus on identifying maintaining cognitive factors in anxiety disorders, enhancing the effectiveness of existing cognitive therapies, evaluating how well these programmes generalise, reducing the therapist time required for treatment without loss of effectiveness, developing and implementing effective programmes for training others, and identifying key change processes in cognitive therapy.
