The Post

Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
The Candidate
We are looking for a donor carer venepuncturist to join our existing Dumfries community team who provide a high standard of care to our donors. You should be educated to higher level, have experience of working in health care or other customer focussed environment, excellent keyboard skills written and oral communication skills. You’ll enjoy a varied role which includes caring for donors throughout the blood donation process, loading/unloading and assembling our community session donation equipment.
The position is within Donor Services Blood Collection Team is based in Dumfries; however extensive travel throughout the region od Dumfries and Galloway and the West of Scotland is required. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours.
Hours will include Public holidays, Sundays and regular late evenings. Knowledge of health care or other customer focused environments is essential. Standard keyboard skills are essential as are good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate must comply with the Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland 2009; and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
Glasgow and West of Scotland – Dumfries Team
Monday to Friday, 13.90 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
