We are looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our mixed speciality unit (Hedgehog Ward). The patient mix is varied and covers both surgical and medical specialities with lengths of stay varying between day-case and long-term admission of six weeks or more.

In Hedgehog Ward you will be delivering care to patients with a diverse range of conditions and it provides great opportunities to develop a breadth of nursing experience. Some of the specialities include neurology, cardiac, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, general surgery, urology, respiratory to name a few.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high-quality nursing care to children, young people and their families.
  • To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times.
  • To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
  • To assist in the safe, effective an efficient management of the department within the allocated resources.
  • To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.
  • To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager/Team Leader.
