NHS Scotland Assure was launched on 1st June 2021 which forms part of NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) Board. NHS Scotland Assure exists to improve how we manage risk in the healthcare-built environment across Scotland. It encompasses some of the existing services provided by Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) and Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) in addition to the new services offered by Assure.

HFS is part of the Procurement, Commissioning and Facilities (PCF) Strategic Business Unit within NHS NSS and provides operational guidance to NHS Scotland healthcare bodies on all facilities topics. We deliver and co-ordinate effective advice and support in relation to national facilities, equipping and technical matters which support and improve health and well-being services.


The Post


As part of the continued development of NHS Scotland Assure, the role of HAISCRIBE Manager is required within NHS Scotland Assure. We are looking for an experienced and qualified member of staff to Lead of the implementation of HAISCRIBE though out NHS Scotland and to support provision of highly specialised information, , advice, and support to stakeholders to help support efforts to improve the management of risk and quality in the healthcare environment across NHS Scotland.


The Candidate


The post holder will be required to lead on behalf of NHS Scotland Assure in the provision of support to NHS Boards with regard to the implementation of HAI-SCRIBE (Healthcare Associated Infection System Controlling Risk of Infection in the Built Environment)). HAI-SCRIBE has been developed as a framework for relevant groups to work together to identify, manage and mitigate issues in the built environment impacting on infection prevention and control risks.

The post holder will be tasked with producing updates to NHS Scotland Assure’s Infection Control in the Built Environment Suite of Guidance, tools and question sets. The post holder will be required to develop and provide training advice and support to all NHS Boards, to Scottish Government, and other partners or organisations as required. The post holder will be required to develop appropriate guidance, give advice, and develop and deliver training and operational support to all Boards on topics related to Infection Control in the Built Environment and facilitate compliance with NHS Scotland Assure guidance in this area. Additionally, the post holder will be required to help Boards with the implementation of new infection control in the built environment guidance, tools and question sets and new versions of the tool as required. Depending on candidate, you may have current NMC, or alternatively a current technical profession qualification / registration. You should have demonstrable experience of implementing infection control and prevention processes within the healthcare built environments.


Location and Working Pattern:


The current location for this role is Glasgow based however a hybrid solution to suit both employer and employee will be developed and agreed with the successful candidate. This will consist of office-based working, working from home and travel to NHS Boards for face-to-face meetings when required.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
