Trainees will participate in clinical governance activities, including audit or quality improvement projects. There are opportunities to develop local and regional guidelines in co-ordination with the guideline lead, or to participate in the data collection, presentation and discussion at our monthly joint paediatric M&M meeting.
Trainees will have the opportunity to take leadership management roles within the department, gaining experience with complaint management, education, and governance opportunities to further develop their portfolio.
Here at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, we are proud to provide expert, compassionate care for our local population. We are ranked as the third in the country for research, embedding education and training across the organisation. Our main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which is one of the largest hospitals on the south coast employing over 8,700 staff.
Our patients come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes our hospital stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for getting it right for patients, colleagues, and our community, you will find a home at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
The post holder will be expected to maintain an eportfolio. They will be supported in this by regular meetings with their educational supervisor. They will be expected to supervise junior members of medical and clinical practitioner staff, support the nursing team and work with medical students. They will be supported by a team of PEM consultants, adult consultants, paediatric consultants and ENPs.
They will have exposure to a wide range of ED presentations including both major and minor trauma and illness. We treat patients up to their 18th birthday which provides the opportunity to manage adolescent mental health, recreational drug use and early pregnancy presentations also.
