We are excited to offer an opportunity to join an experienced and dynamic team on Ward 309.
This is a unique opportunity to join the team at a band 6 level and help to lead this team through the ever changing dynamic that is surgery at present.
We are looking for an experienced nurse who is an effective communicator, who can support the senior sister and existing band 6 team to lead this ward moving forward. Adapting to the changing environments and supporting the staff to continue to deliver the high standard of patient care that is currently in place on the ward.
Surgical or Gastro experience would be desirable for any applicants. You will be expected as part of this role to provide 24/7 ward cover as part of the band 6 team on the ward and on occasions take part in the surgical unit cover.

309 is currently a 29 bedded ward that takes admits patients on the emergency pathway from the surgical assessment unit.
Ward 309 focus on upper GI, HPB and Colorectal specialities as well as being the designated surgical ward for all surgical patients that require parental nutrition.
As a band 6 you will also be supported to hold the surgical unit at times to support the wider surgical business unit.
Ward 309 is an area that is used to change and as such this is a fast paced, dynamic ward that prides itself on looking after surgical specialities. As part of this we have been focusing on team time outs days to continually educate and train all the staff to update them on all the knowledge base that they will need. The management team on the ward are expected to work closely with the Surgeons and Education team to achieve this.
